Personality types are all the rage these days, but can they tell you practical information about your life? Specifically, do you have a health personality? Learn right here how knowing your personality can change everything!
A few weeks ago I was sitting on the kitchen counter, legs dangling and sipping a mint green tea laughing hysterically as my sister named the top crimes my personality type made.
Of course, it didn’t just stop with crimes, but everything from what type of ‘girlfriend’ I was, to what movies I prefer and more. As we went through each of our personalities and then laughed as we learned more about our spouses, I got to thinking, this personality idea is in-depth.
Not only in-depth but specific. If it can tell me what crime I’m most likely to commit what could it tell me about my health personality, making goals and achieving them? Could I learn how I should and shouldn’t meal plan and what ways to exercise that I enjoy?
The big question I had was this; could knowing your personality type change your health?
Naturally, I asked an enneagram expert to come on the podcast and share more about this exact topic.

health personality
Over the last few years as I’ve learned more about my own personality type through tests like 16 Personalities and the Enneagram, I’ve found that I work so much more efficiently.
Maybe the most beneficial of information I learned was not how I work well but how I don’t. What areas I am weak in and where I can really work against myself. It was a huge “aha” moment for me because truth is, I was doing all the things I thought I should be doing to achieve success in all areas of my life, but none of it worked.
Now I knew why it wasn’t working, it was completely against who I was created to be.
This is exactly why I think this very ‘unconventional’ topic of knowing your personality type or better yet, your Enneagram number can make your goals an achievable thing.
why it matters
The biggest take away from uncovering your personality type is that you can finally start to work with your mind and body instead of against it. You can learn your own health personality. Because the honest answer is as long as we’re at war with our mind and body we’ll never seek success.
The battle has to end.
But the good news is, knowing more about you isn’t a difficult thing. In fact, it is incredibly enlightening.
step one
The first step to uncovering your personality is to take a personality test or two. I recommend taking these two tests to start with:
Once you have your results you can start to dig in. To uncover all areas of your life. How you work well, communicate best, your weaknesses and so much more.
step two
The second step is to keep digging in. Search online for articles about your type or number, pick up some good books, go through it with others {because it’s great to learn about those who are closes to you} and start to take notice of what you’re learning.

step three
Take action. This is where the money is, where the rubber meets the road and you start to move in the direction you desire. It may be difficult at first, to unlearn what you’ve been doing for so long even if it’s never worked. But in time, this will become your own natural rhythm – because it is natural.
Soon you’ll find that life seems easier, you can breath deeper and life isn’t as difficult as it used to be.
your health personality
You may be wondering, yes, but what does this have to do with my health?
I say everything!
Your personality doesn’t just tell you how you communicate but how you work well. While people like me, nutritionist and influencers, authors and doctors, can make recommendations all day to you, if it doesn’t align with who you are, it probably won’t happen.
Knowing yourself means knowing how you plan, how you strategize, take action, what ways you like to move, how you communicate with others, how stress affects you and so much more.
Basically, it helps you to live proactive to life rather than constantly reacting to life.
Take for instance meal planning. Maybe you’ve tried it what seems like a thousand times and have never been successful. Maybe it’s because you’re just not great at planning. You’re more of a type B personality who likes flow and spontaneity.
So rather than setting a rigid meal plan for the week, you create ideas, buy the food so it’s on hand and cook what you feel like cooking that day. You allow more wiggle room, more adventure and stop pressuring yourself to stick to some rigid plan.
take a look at your own life
Make sure you listen to the podcast to learn all the details on how you can effectively use your personality to make changes in your life.
It starts by looking at areas you’ve struggled with in the past, areas that seem to be extra difficult or where you wish you could do better but simply can’t.
Take those times and evaluate what you’ve tried to do and make some simple changes based on how you work well.
Keep looking, digging and changing. In time, you will notice great changes!
Because knowing you is the greatest tool in achieving what you’ve set out to do!
