There is so much controversy, so much confusion, and so much frustration in the health world today. So today on the podcast I wanted to break down hormones into the nitty-gritty and share the five hormone balancing rules to live by.
We’ve been talking a lot about hormones here the last year, but there is a good reason behind all the excitement. Our hormones are the main communication network of our body. They are the signals that keep the body running as one full mechanism, not separate organ systems like everyone talks about.
Which is exactly the “thing” that we have to start understanding about our body. Each organ system doesn’t work independently of one another but they work in a unanimous harmony. Yes, we like to separate them, even our hormonal system which is known as our endocrine system.
But as long as we do this, lasting health will be hard to come by, because we can’t fix one without fixing another. We have to look at our body as a whole. Today on the show I wanted to break down my top five hormonal balancing rules to help you live a healthier life. And may I add, with ease.

the rules
The top 5 hormone balancing rules to live by are precise, yet unique, different and yet uniform. They include:
- Getting serious about your stress levels
- Understanding and actually listening to your body
- Learning to {really} love good food
- Cycle syncing your life
- Focusing on the big three – fat, protein and fiber
I’m not going to break them all down here because I think you’ll find more value in listening to me break it down. Or so I hope. So make sure you check out the podcast. Instead, here I want to dig up how we can learn to better listen to our body and reset those hormones.
listen to your body
What does that actually mean you wonder?
Well, it’s not like verbal words are going to come slewing from your stomach but there is an intricate communication network happening between each and every cell, every second of the day with your brain.
Some signals actually do happen to be auditory – like your stomach growling when you’re hungry. But in most cases, it’s the non-verbal feelings, symptoms and even unconscious thoughts that hopefully cause us to act.
Or at least the action is the end goal we’re seeking.
Your body is constantly communicating what it needs more of and what it needs less of. For instance, think about when you get thirsty. You get the dryness in your mouth, your body literally aches for moisture and you crave something fresh to quench the dryness in your body.
Thirst happens to be one of our strongest communication signals, and obviously for good reason. We can’t last long without hydration.
Other examples are yawning when you’re tired, heart racing when you’re nervous, pain when you’ve twisted your knee, face flushing when you’re embarrassed, sweating when you get hot, goosebumps when you get cold and even fullness when you’ve eaten too much.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
the problem
The problem is not these signals, sure they can be annoying at times, especially when you have another hour of work to do but you can’t stop yawning. But the truth is our body is way more worried about our health and survival than our workload.
So we can fight it even though a lot of us do.
Some have put these signals on the backburner so long, they can no longer tell when they’re full or hungry. Their signals have disappeared, or at least the ability to hear them has been diminished.
the good news
You can get these back, you can start to feel again, hear again and uncover what it is your body really wants. You can learn to work with your body instead of against it or outside of it, both cases which never end well.
Most of the time, it simply starts by being aware.
After you eat take a moment to analyze how you feel. When you wake up, how energized are you, are your joints stiff, do you feel refreshed or are you still exhausted. After you workout, do you feel nauseous, swollen, or aching? How about when your spouse makes a “move” are you into it or completely out of it.
Your body is giving you signals every second of every day, the question is what are you doing with this information.
use the information
Instead of ignoring it or going against it start taking it in and doing something about it.
Obviously, take a drink when you’re thirsty, eat when you feel hungry, slow your workout when you feel nauseous and take notice when you’re libido has been thrown out the window.
Then realign your life and your hormones working to achieve optimal performance that works for your specific fingerprint and your specific make-up. This is health.

Sometimes this takes a simple reset. Getting serious about what you’re putting in your body, on your body and how you’re feeding your mind and soul. Take a week to be hyperaware of what your body is crying out for and what it’s had enough of.
