Enneagram Type 1, you are considered the reformer. You are committed to doing the best possible work you can. Setting bars and expecting yourself to reach them. But in the drive to be perfect comes with it a lot of pressure. Have you ever considered how this relates to your health? Learn what this means inside.
When it comes to health and creating nourishing rhythms, you have many healthy and highly beneficial characteristics. With your desire to improve, you don’t just sit around and make a list. You accomplish it.
Enneagram type one, you’re a mover and a shaker. Inside, you strive to achieve perfection.
While you have a lot of energy, you also spend most of your energy working and perfecting, forgetting to fill yourself back up. This is the key to your health – understanding that it’s not just about reaching another goal or fixing another problem – but it comes from filling who you already are.
Working from a place of abundance rather than lack and allowing you to become healthier so you can use that energy and health to reach all of your other life goals.
Take some time to think about where you invest your energy and where that energy is taking you. You may be surprised to learn how much energy goes into perfecting things that never filled you back up.
one’s summer challenge
One’s, I know the urge is strong to check off your entire to-do list and perfectly clean your house before guests come over, but I wonder, what would happen if you died to the unnecessary evils that make you believe life can’t be lived until your list is finished.
What would happen if you started to look at your life and sorted through what you feel like you “have” to do and compare that to what you want to do?
Are there areas you could delegate, release, or step away from – even if that means deleting your Pinterest account?
This summer, your challenge is to crumple up the to-do list and get out and enjoy more life.
Realistically speaking, that means setting boundaries on how long your to-do list is, tossing out what you expect to accomplish, and creating a more realistic focus. Instead of allowing yourself to build an endless to-do list, break it down into your top five priorities for that day.
Then reward yourself by living life now, not waiting for when everything is accomplished.
Be gentle with yourself, and incorporate more play into your life. This summer, it’s time to take “filling yourself” to a new level and spend some much needed time learning what gives you energy and what depletes it.
additional healthy rhythms
Can you let yourself play and truly enjoy life. If you’re looking for specific examples, here are a few. But know it’s not about what others think but what you do. Do more of what fills you.
- Have your friends over just for fun.
- Skip the intense workouts and try hiking or getting out on some trail walks.
- Create a morning routine that involves both stillness and movement.
- Pick up a hobby – I know it’s not in your blood but you more creative than you let on.
Whatever you choose, make sure this is the summer where you let go of the health goals and expectations and step into living with nourishing rhythms. There is no bar you have to chase, you as you are are worth loving and nourishing.
