Enneagram Type 3, you are considered the achiever. You are put the H in hustle. You know how to work hard, and in general, you have the energy to do it. Unfortunately, you struggle with balance, which can separate you from you. This has a significant impact on your health, learn more inside.
When it comes to health and creating nourishing rhythms, type three, you can set the goal, and you will achieve it. You’re disciplined and not easily distracted.
While you have a lot of energy, you often channel all of it into one basket and lose touch of what your body needs outside of what your goals are. You move your focus away from yourself, from your health, your relationships, and you focus only on succeeding.
But what would happen if you switched your focus from accomplishing and started to trust that will happen {accomplishments} regardless of how much energy you put into it? Instead, turn that attention back to yourself – opening up space to listen and to grow.
Perhaps the thought of sitting without accomplishing is hard for you to wrap your head around when you have a thousand looming projects. But, don’t lose sight of what real rest means. It doesn’t necessarily mean taking an afternoon nap, but merely allowing space in your life to open up and come back to yourself.
three’s summer challenge
Your challenge this summer is to incorporate adventure and play.
Slow down and open up to see the world for what it is, you never know what you might find—learning that there may be a balance underneath it all. To work and hustle fulfilling the projects you love, while also having the daily space to step into the beauty of today.
To accomplish this, you’ll need hard boundaries. But, in those boundaries, you’ll realize how much energy play and adventure give you. Even more, you may very well find the reason why you work so hard in the beginning.
Think about one activity you’ve been dreaming of doing again or trying out. Maybe you want to jump back on your bike and hit the trails or take the painting class. Open up space to get back in touch with yourself, recreating balance in your life.
Whatever it is you love, make it a commitment. I promise you won’t lose any time but gain more than you could imagine. Yes, you can get more done in less time, but it’s going to take creating space to live, which will fill your tank with abundant energy.

If you’re already great at daily rest, here are a few other things you could incorporate to get your energy back this summer.
- Rent a funny movie and allow yourself the grace to watch it.
- Take weekly sabbaths where you commit to turning off electronics and going out to explore.
- Sign up for a recreational activity. Try pickleball or golf.
Start to focus on nourishing your body and remember, you can be successful without accomplishing something. Switch your focus to balance and allow yourself to explore what it is you want in life – I bet you’ll find that you want to get out and live more life.
