Enneagram Type 7, you are considered the enthusiast – the one who is always up for a good time. But, have you ever considered how this relates to your health? Learn what this means inside.
Seven’s, you have a unique ability to light up a room. You value joy and variety, envisioning how you can make the world a more delightful place. You’re great at planning, seeing possibility, and working to make all of life more pleasurable.
While it may not always seem like it, you are considered one of the high energy enneagram types. How you channel that energy is going to determine how healthy not only your body is, but your mind as well.
Given your common fear is boredom and pain, you can start to recognize how easily unspent energy can turn into inner anxiety. This internal anxiety channels all of your energy into an unhealthy pattern leading to exhaustion and a lack of drive. Not to mention, the core weakness of enneagram type seven, to numb your pain.
This can paralyze you from making healthy choices that seem so mundane and boring.
But the avoidance is creating more negative energy, which will eventually come out. To transition your high energy state from negative to positive, bringing you back into balance, you have to understand that what you fear and the pain of what could be is never as bad as the thoughts leading up to it.
The pain you’ve created in your mind is always much worse than if, in the off chance, it happened in real life. The only way to shake free of this is to stop distracting yourself from sitting in the pain.
seven’s summer challenge
I know it’s uncomfortable, but what would happen if you had a sober summer?
{If you don’t drink, insert any distractions in this blank even giving up social media}.
Get rid of the thing that numbs the spiral and learn how to deal with the spiral so you can tap into the joy that life is.
This summer, your focus is to break free of all of the things you “should’ be doing and the guilt that comes from not living in line with where you think you should live, allowing yourself to sit with you. To just be and recognize the beauty and the joy that is inside of you.
This summer, give yourself the grace to know that you don’t always have to put on a show – which can be draining. Your performance does not define you, but you, as you are, is precisely what this world needs. And I bet you’ll find, you’re always a joy to be around.
Seven’s, I wonder what would change if you could find the space between good energy and bad energy, working on learning what fills you up to creating energy balance that will bring more joy. What if you saw the good, right here, right now? To see that health isn’t something that you have to restrict to get but something that can help you live more satisfied—allowing you energy to do more of what you love.
additional healthy rhythms
If you’re already sober, try out one of these other healthy rhythms to allow you to sit with who you are.
- Start a creative project and commit to finishing it before summer is over.
- Move your body, preferably in nature, first thing every morning.
- Create 10 minutes of daily solitude, even if that means laying out in the sun over your lunch break.
- Focus on movement over eating – learning to channel your negative energy into action and not suppression through food.
