Inside this episode, we talk about how enneagram sevens can live in health, all while honoring the support and security they crave.
We’ve also created a free download for teaching you how to make health who you are through your enneagram number. Download the guide, print it off, and see how much it resonates with your life.

how to get healthy – type 7’s
I don’t need to tell a seven that their basic fear is being deprived, trapped in emotional pain, limited or bored. They work very hard all day long to keep themselves free of these things. With this, they are extremely gifted at seeing the good in every situation – bringing light and joy to the hardest of circumstances. However, they rarely sit in this themselves constantly dreaming about the future so that they don’t have to be confronted with the pain.
This leads to quick comforts and instant gratification decisions. Saying yes to good things for temporary relief but forgetting the long term consequence of their choices. As you can guess, sevens have addictive personalities. Becoming addicted to the quick fix or “feel good.” But what happens if you start to recognize the painful consequence that comes after the initial feel good. Like the hangover the next day or the way that binging made you feel bloated?
Sevens, I wonder what would happen if you opened up your view of health from one of deprivation, starvation, and restriction and started shifted that focus to what would make you feel good. Not temporary good but the long term vision of what health looks like to you. Then do more of that – saying no to the good so you can say yes to the great.
You don’t have to starve or take out the joy to find health. This is quite the opposite, and no one rallies around this concept more than a seven. Seven, it’s time to find joy in health to see there is good to be had in social eating and finding spontaneity and flavor in healthy things. It all has to come back to a simple shift in your mind. Moving from fixing your problems to one of filling.
I think you’ll like it here – in a place where health can taste good, look good, be fun and make you feel good long term.

health struggles
A common fear with sevens as it relates to health is boredom and pain. But what happens if you overcome the belief that health has to involve restriction and deprivation? What if you could bring fun and joy back in the name of health?
Rather than being focused on what you should or shouldn’t be doing – leading to feelings of failure, what if you focused on what would make you feel good long term? Using your desire to avoid pain and focusing on long-term health and feeling good rather than getting consumed in the instant gratification.
As a seven, I want you to find joy in your relationship with food. Eating well is about balance – that you can enjoy good foods you love and nourishing foods you need as a part of a healthy life. Health isn’t about restriction but in feeling good. So sevens, will you find space to focus on what makes you feel good, not the momentary goodness that leaves you feeling worse later but the nourishing, wholesome good your body craves.
Here are five ways to achieve healthy rhythms
1. use your gift of visualization
Sevens are visionaries – thinking up ways to bring more adventure and pleasure to the world. What if you used this gift to visualize what a healthy ‘you’ would look like? Use this vision to spur on your daily action by knowing what would make you feel great long term, not just temporarily ‘good.’
2. sit in stillness
Boredom is a scary place for a seven. For most of your life, you’ve learned to distract yourself from boredom with food or anxiety. But I challenge you to sit in the stillness so you can learn that it can be useful. Find daily practices of solitude, whether through exercise, walking in nature, or sitting alone in a journal. Your path to healing starts with solitude.
3. stop multitasking
Distraction is the name of the game for sevens. While you have a lot of great ideas – follow-through is a struggle. One way to reach your goals and live more disciplined with less pain is to focus on one thing at a time. Stop trying to rush things or layer thoughts. Slow down and let yourself do what you need to do with your full attention.
4. move your body
Sevens are full of energy, and often this bound up energy can lead to unnecessary anxiety, worry, and even anger. To overcome this and bring yourself back to a place of balance – focus on daily exercise. Healthy eating will follow. It doesn’t have to look like a specific workout or induce pain – because if it does, it probably won’t stick. Instead, make movement a part of your everyday activities and make it fun.
5. avoid the stimulants
A common way for seven’s to avoid pain is to use stimulants and other pain masking drugs. Addiction is a common problem with seven’s, unless they learn to associate the consequences of these things with pain. Not to mention, you type seven’s don’t need more stimulation. They are high energy, pumping out lots of thoughts, ideas, and entertainment. Instead of stimulants, find more even energy with calming techniques and daily solitude.
