Three’s, you’re a spark plug. You love setting goals and checking them off, living through a cycle of set goals and meet the goal. When challenged, you rise to the occasion. Being disciplined and not easily distracted, you inspire others by achieving what others think cannot be done. You have many strengths that are highly possessed when it comes to living a healthy life.
But through the hype, what you want most is to be loved. And you think this love comes through what you achieve. While threes are the most likely to achieve set goals, you’re also one of the top enneagram numbers to fear failure, and therefore you mask yourself, covering up the real you with what you think people want you to believe.
To get healthy, threes, you have to believe at the core of who you are, that you are not loved because of what you’ve accomplished but because of who you are.

how to get healthy – type 3’s
Three’s, you reside in the heart triad. This means you will often associate diet and exercise with needing to be loved and wanted.
As a three, you naturally bend towards wanting to do things the best way and in that achieving the most accomplishments – this includes your health goals. Given threes are one of the most-image conscious enneagram types, it’s crucial to balance the vision of what health means for you.
That you don’t have to eat to compete – but that you can eat simply to nourish.
Given you are highly visual, it’s important to recreate a vision of what health looks like for you. To create an image that is realistic and sustainable, that contains wholesome and nutritious foods as well as space to eat to live.
Make a conscious choice to make health less about benchmarks and gaols and more about who you are. Working to create wholeness through being true to the real you and using health as a means to reach your goals, not the goal itself.

health struggles
Three’s have a deep-rooted desire to look good. Of all the enneagram numbers, threes are the most body-conscious. While there is a lot of good in this, including the fact that three’s also seem to have a good view of food – detaching their emotions making physical appearance come more easily for a three.
The problem is less about the body consciousness, but what that means for a three. You see three’s tend to sway people with their looks. They want to be reliable, on top of their game and respected because of what they’ve done.
But obsessing about the image of our body allows threes to continue putting up the masks – or false representations of who they want to be rather than letting who they are out. They often don’t just have one mask, but many depending upon the situation they find themselves in.
Three’s are known to be the chameleon of the enneagram types – blending into any situation they find themselves in – getting lost in the crowd, never fully tapping into who they are.
That’s where threes become they’re most unhealthy – when they’re detached from their emotions so they no longer even know how they feel, what they want or who they are. Three’s it’s uncomfortable but essential to get back in touch with your emotions to unmask yourself for health.
Remember – you are not loved for what you’ve accomplished, but because of who you are.
practical steps
You are a mover and shaker! You are highly disciplined, ready for anything, and highly focused. When a three takes care of their mind and body, everything else seems to fall into place. Here are some practical steps or rhythms that you can choose to fill yourself up. Remember, these are just ideas and not the end all be all – what would be on your list?
1. Unplug
Three’s you love to work, and when the work is there, you will be getting it done. So much so that you have a difficult time shutting off the work. Creating space and boundaries where you can’t work is one of the most necessary functions in healing. Create space by setting daily time to unplug. Whether you put away your phone at a designated time each night, leave it in the car or take a social media sabbatical – do something radical and try unplugging.
2. Start your day with movement
You tend to put all of your eggs in one basket, often that is your job. If you find yourself doing this, then it’s crucial to get back into movement. Because usually, if you start redistributing those eggs, through just incorporating movement, you’re more likely to create balance in all other areas of your life. Try waking up and working out first thing every morning.
3. hire a therapist
Three’s are the most detached from their feelings – so therapy may sound like the worst-case scenario for a three. Even more, you may be thinking that you’re doing pretty good – but beware three – you’re so detached that you can suppress until you physically get sick. Find a place where you can share your emotions and most importantly, where someone is there to push you to dig it all up. You’ll stay surface level until you’re forced not to. But getting back in touch with your feelings is a critical aspect of healing.
4. Eat without distraction
Three’s you’re busy, we see that, but that doesn’t mean you should push your health to the bottom of the totem pole because you need to get more work done. Trust me when I say, you’ll achieve more the healthier your mind body and soul are. Make eating a priority and sit down in the absence of distraction to enjoy your food.
5. focus on a relationship
There is so much to get done and rarely enough time to do it, so you rearrange your schedule accordingly. Often this means longer hours int the office and fewer hours enjoying life. But you’re people – people so be careful not to push off your family and friends. It’s essential you stay relational and go out and pursue it – not wait for it. You need relationships, make them a priority.
