Exhausted? Welcome to the world of adulting! It feels like a right of passage in today’s world, but this concept of energy is more valuable than we give it credit. It’s not something to brush off and learning to boost your energy could be the very thing that helps you lose weight and get healthy.
Welcome to the healthy energy series – the place where I talk in-depth about energy and how to get more of it. It is the very topic that we hear little about and yet ends the confusion.
If you want to get healthy – you must know about energy, and that is what this entire series is for – understanding how you can move from energy debt into abundance.
Today on the podcast, we are diving into the concept of energy, what energy means, how to measure it in the body and determine if you’re living in energy debt or abundance.
On the show, we talk about energy abundance – which sounds a little fishy right off of the bat. While scarcity is prevalent, it doesn’t mean it’s normal, and that is what we break down today on the podcast.

Let’s start by defining energy.
“The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.
“Power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work.”
Energy is work – it is the very nature of life. Every single cell in our body requires energy to function and an abundance of energy to perform well. While we tend to grasp the concept that we need energy in the form of food, I feel we fail to see that energy is not limited to calories, but it is the very nature of everything around us.
All of life is energy, whether positive or negative, everything is working at a specific frequency. Some would argue that our bodies are just vibrating energy. Regardless of if that concept sinks in – we are energetic beings, and everything we come in contact with is a form of energy.
What this has to do with health?
So you may be wondering what this has to do with health? Let me inform you; it has everything to do with it. Energy is the very substance in which our body reacts. It is how our body responds to life as we know it.
If it lacks energy or energy is excreted faster than it’s coming in, our body moves to a response known as survival. It’s here in the sympathetic stress state that your body goes to work, slowing down and moving your cells and your body into a lower energy state.
You can think of these states like that of water.
The energy of water determines what state it is in:
- Ice is the lowest energy state.
- Water is the neutral form.
- Vaporization is the highest form – when the molecules are moving at the highest level of energy.
Just like water, everything in life has a frequency {or a state of energy}. The energy determines what is happening to the state of those molecules.
More simply said, at which rate your body’s energy levels are, determine the health of your body. The lower energy levels are associated with exhaustion, fatigue, anxiety, depression, weight gain, inflammation, illness, disease, and even injury. But you feel that right?
When you’re exhausted, you tend to be more irritable and even more, crave any source of energy you can lay your hands on—especially fast energy sources like caffeine and carbohydrates.
On the flip side, if you’re functioning in a high energy state, your body is performing well. Every cell in the body is acting on command because it has the energy to do so.
energy like a bank account
Think of your body as a bank account, and energy is the currency. Like any currency, there is no ceiling to how much you can have. It truly is in abundance. While it might not feel like it, we have to learn to wrap our minds around it – because scarcity is a very low energy mindset.
Once we understand that energy is in abundance, we can start to grasp how energy works inside of our bodies.
If we go back to the concept of the bank account, everything in life, including our thoughts, foods, activities, relationships, beliefs, are either depositing energy into your bank account {your body} or taking it away.
If you spend more time depositing energy {or filling yourself} than you do taking it out, your body will be thriving. It will feel well, fight off infections and inflammation and overall be performing at it’s prime.
On the other hand, and often where the majority of people are camping out, they’re taking more energy out than they’re putting back in. This isn’t always at the fault of the person, its the nature of what we’ve been led to believe in the health space.
But taking more than you put in, like any bank account, puts you in debt. And it’s here that you become more susceptible to disease, inflammation, weight gain, exhaustion, and even depression.
While the world tells you to “do this – not that,” or “eat this and not that,” or “fix yourself with this solution,” – what I’m saying is perhaps the solution your seeking is part of the problem.
You don’t need to be fixed; you just need to be filled.
put away the diet
If you start to think in terms of energy, then you’ll quickly see that it’s never been about the perfect diet or exercise routine, but rather how energized it makes you feel.
What I fear is that people are doing so many of the ‘right things,’ but those right things are creating more problems mostly because they’re exhausting to keep up. They’re against who you are personally and even more what your body needs on a daily level.
When you come back to the thought that energy is the only thing your body needs – it will take care of everything else, then you can start to walk in harmony with the seasons of life, with your personality, and make it realistic and achievable for you.
So put away the diets that only take from you and know that lasting health has only ever been about filling yourself with energy.
how energized do you feel
Stop spending so much time trying to fix your health and instead fill yourself with the energy your body needs to do the healing it was designed.
Take notes, become aware, and pay attention to how your body feels. How do you rate your energy levels? On a scale of 0-10, zero being dead, 10 being an abundance of energy like you’ve never experienced – where would you rate yourself?
If you’re anything less than a five, I question, are you living in energy debt? Does it feel like your merely surviving?
Even more than being aware of what you are is doing more things that fill you up and less of what takes away. Start to pay attention to these foods, tasks, activities, and relationships. If it’s not filling, is it necessary? And what could you replace it with that will make you feel more energize and therefore healthier in all that you do.
It starts with awareness.
