Adrenal fatigue isn’t a new term – it’s been a buzz word for the last few years. And there is a perfectly good reason – our adrenals are taxed. So the question becomes, do you have adrenal fatigue? Inside this podcast, you’ll learn if adrenal fatigue could be your culprit and how to fix it naturally.
Your adrenal glands create and regulate cortisol, which makes them essential to hacking stress. When your adrenals are working at their prime – you have more energy, mental clarity, a sharper immune system. You also tend to be more resilient in taking on life’s challenges.
On the other hand, if you’re overwhelmed and overworked by chronic stress, your adrenals can get burnt out from continually producing cortisol. The result is adrenal fatigue leading to an abnormal cortisol rhythm whether too much or too little.
Both cases lead to symptoms like feeling tired constantly, having trouble sleeping, mid-afternoon slumps, increased anxiety, increased hunger and cravings, mood swings, weight gain, autoimmune issues, brain fog, body aches, hair loss, and even lightheadedness. And when you’re adrenals are off you can bet your entire hormonal flow is off as well.
Inside today’s podcast, I interview adrenal expert Ali Damron {follow her here} and she is going to explain what our adrenals do and how we can fix them naturally. Even if you don’t have adrenal fatigue – this episode will help you prevent it. Click below to listen to the full podcast to get all of the details.

fix your adrenals
Fixing your adrenals is the foundation for fixing many other health problems. It’s the little cascade that one change affects many – like the domino effect. Given your adrenals deal with stress the most straightforward way to fix your adrenals is to dimish stress – or at least learn how to manage it. Here are a few ways to de-stress your body.
1. sleep deeper
Taboo – sure, but it’s the essential element of physical health. How well you sleep matters to not only your body in healing restoration and rejuvenation but dealing with stress. Below are a few tips to help you sleep deeper.
- Invest in a pair of blue light blocking glasses.
- Create an evening routine.
- Skip TV and electronics an hour or two before bed and pick up a good book instead.
- Take a hot bath filed with epsom salts and lavendar.
- Diffuse lavender in your sleeping environment.
- Buy light-blocking curtains.
2. Get serious about stress management
Stress management doesn’t always look like paying for a shrink and laying on a couch spilling all of your problems – although it’s not a bad idea for anyone. Outside of counseling, there is plenty to do to manage your stress. Some of the best and most reserached ways include prayer {meditation} and exercise.
Try getting into a habit of incorporating two or three stress reliveing practices to your day. Some of my favorites include:
- Hikes with a good friend and my dog.
- Hot Epsom salt baths.
- Reading just to read.
- A warm glass of tea as the sun rises in the morning.
- Running just to run and not to train.
- Monthly massage sessions.
- Listening to podcasts.
- My morning routine.
3. Change your environment
Unfortunately, the space we live in could be the most toxic thing to our health. Whether it be a toxic relationship, bad finances or an unhealthy space – taking time to understand how healthy your environment is could make a night and day difference to your health. Go through and analyze your relationships, your home space, work environment, and even your finances.
Pinpoint one significant stress and then create one action plan to work on that area.
4. fix your diet
I didn’t want to, but I had to – of course, your diet matters – as always. There are some significant food stressors that many people gravitate toward especially when your lacking energy. Substances like caffeine {I’m so sorry – I am} and sugar are causing more stress on your adrenals than we credit them. All are leading to more fatigue, weight gain, and brain fog.
Remember it’s all a part of the hormonal cascade. Fix your hormones fix your adrenals – fix your adrenals and fix your hormones.
So I like to question – is the food that I’m eating helping or hurting and how could I add more foods, drinks, and supplements that are helpful? Of course, you are working not to make your diet just another stress. So think about one small change that could have the domino effect on your entire hormonal flow.
- Maybe you switch your coffee for tea or an adaptogenic coffee replacement like this one.
- Maybe you switch out the high sugar breakfast foods for a vegetable loaded hash.
- Try adding more adaptogenic herbs to your food like this maca monkey smoothie.
- Just eat more WHOLE foods like vegetables, protein, and healthy fat.
