The best self-care practices for enneagram type eight is explained inside. It’s a subject I’m delighted to talk with an actual type eight on what this looks like in life.
Self-care is a subject that I’ve thought long and hard about. Similar to the body positivity movement – it’s one that has a lot of good and bad. But if we go back to the original definition of the word, then I think we can start to understand that self-care is not just another series of benchmarks and checkmarks, but it’s a filling from abundance.
Of knowing where you are and loving yourself for being there. Yet willing to take the necessary action to fill that self up. Whether through nourishing foods, bubble baths, or anything in between. Self-care is what you need and providing that when you need it – even if it is just a morning of extra sleep.
So maybe all of that to say, we don’t have to practice self-care but rather make self-care a part of who we are — living self-aware.
The Ennea-health series was born from this. A place of actual knowledge to take action, creating a healthier life that is who you are not what you do.
Today we continue digging into the Enneagram type eight through an interview with a great friend, Kara McCartney. Today I talk with Kara in a candid and entertaining conversation about her health journey and how she has learned to use her strengths to overcome her health hurdles. Learn all the details and what this could mean for you inside the podcast.
enneagram type eight
Eight’s you are a powerful, confident force who is highly disciplined and able to do what you are passionate about. You are a defender of man and ready to stand for what you believe in.
As an eight, you are full of energy. In fact, you have more energy than any other number on the enneagram. While this is a great thing, like anything, too much of a good thing, can become harmful. Unspent energy is one of your most significant weaknesses of an enneagram eight
You’re like a carbonated beverage, and the less energy you spend, the more the carbonation builds up as life shakes until an explosion happens. For an eight, health looks like bringing this energy back into balance. Even though you like to be all in or all out – it’s going to be essential to come to a common ground, softening a bit around your health.
Remember, health doesn’t have to look like anything else, but what works for you – you set your own food rules based on what is healthy for you.
getting healthy
Eight’s, I wonder what would change if you changed your view of health? From a view based on the standards and recommendations of the diet industry and brought it back to you. Simply asking if my body could talk – what would it tell me?
What if you spent time honoring your body, and positively releasing your energy? What if you were in charge of your own food rules, defining health based on what your body needs?
Inside the podcast, I talk with Kara McCartney about her struggle with her energy levels and what she has learned about positively releasing energy. We also walk through some health practices that may just fit who you are — making health less about what you do and more about how you live – your personality.
