Calories have been such a hot topic in health for the last fifty plus years. They go away and come back and in the end really never go away. New things always manage to sneak their way in the mix but don’t you wonder why counting calories in food never seems to work?
Sure, some things work but long-term nothing seems to stick. It’s always something more and something new. Let’s be honest, if it were really as simple as calories in equals calories out we would be a thin, healthy nation with few health problems.
Unfortunately it isn’t that simple, well it is, but that method is the wrong approach.
Because it’s not so much just about how much energy we consume versus what we burn but how that energy is transferred.
We all know there is a big difference between 100 calories of Oreos {also one oreo} and an avocado. But this isn’t motivation enough for us to change (a whole other topic).
What we are focusing on today is why calorie counting doesn’t work and how it boils down to vibrational frequency. Yes, the subject we talked about last week with expert Robyn Openshaw and one I’m going to try to “normalize” on this week’s podcast.

what on earth
You may be wondering what on earth has she gotten herself into now? I get it and to be honest, the first time I encountered vibrational frequency I thought great, another subject that seems so out there.
The more I dug in and the deeper I got, the more I wished my brain could absorb physics concepts with ease. This just made me even more in awe of the subject. I think it seems to woo-woo simply because it isn’t normal yet. However, there are actually a lot of ways in medicine today {and life} that we are using vibrational frequencies to live and heal. Think lasers and light and sound. Yes, all are vibrational frequencies.
On the podcast I really dive into breaking down exactly what it is and what it means for our health. But one thing I want you to note here is that we all have a unique vibrational fingerprint. Yes, we are all unique. Which you’ve probably heard a thousand times, even from me, but without a lot of backing.
Well this proves exactly what we’ve all known but with science to back it up.

This unique vibrational fingerprint could be the reason why no diets on earth created to date have worked for everyone {or anyone} long-term. When we try to take rigid “standards” or basic equations and make everyone fit into that mold we fail. Why?
Our bodies don’t work that way. We are constantly changing and unique. Yes, each day and life circumstance changes our body’s needs and requirements. This of course makes it difficult to measure or calculate anything because we really don’t know what your exact needs are each and every day.
The problem is, we’ve failed to own our uniqueness. Instead you may find yourself with the 33 million other American’s who have joined a “diet” this year and wonder why nothing is working. Friend, it isn’t your fault. You are unique and now is the time to rise to meet that.
To foster and care and respect the fact that your body is different.

The key to this is knowing, trusting that and listening to your body. Which again is a completely separate podcast as listening to your body is a task in itself. At the end of the day this is the goal. To understand our body, trust our body and listen to its needs.
It takes work, time and tuning out the noise to tune into you, but if we get this then we can start to recognize without thought or work or stress what is helping your body, healing your body and increasing your vibrational frequency and what isn’t.
Is health really that simple?
I believe it is. Unfortunately we’re hard-wired to want a strategy, a system or program that will miraculously give us the results we desire. The problem is… it really doesn’t exist. It really is as simple as knowing your body, what fills you up, what gives you energy and do more of that. It also means doing less of all the things that bring you down.
Those are things like:
- Toxic Foods
- Environments
- Relationships
- Mindsets
- Toxic self-talk
- Workout programs
You see where this is going. All the things that leave you more stressed, more overwhelmed, more frustrated, angry, sad, depressed and lost than before.
Which is funny considering most would classify health today as confusing. This thought process alone is enough to make us go nuts and just thinking about it can bring us down into the dumps. The dump is where health escapes us and disease enters.
counting calories doesn’t work
This same principal is the best explanation of why calories don’t work. Which we’ve hit on and I hit on more in-depth in the show, and isn’t it kind of exciting? To realize that you never have to count another calorie gram again? Okay, it’s most likely scary because that’s what we’ve been led to believe for years and generations.
So let me clarify one thing, calories matter but not in the way we think they do. Calories in themselves only explain the amount of energy in that particular product. The problem is that calories alone don’t explain how that energy is transferred, broken down and metabolized in the body. It doesn’t explain the metabolic and health effect we are looking for.
It’s simply just a measure of energy.
What we don’t need is just energy, we need healing energy and that is where the vibrational frequency comes in and I explain all of this in the podcast.
the simple solution
The simple solution to achieving health without living for it and being trapped to it is seeking a higher vibration. Again, not something you have to think specifically about, because this is just coming into practice. But living a high vibration life, even if you don’t think of it as high vibration is simply healthy practices your body thrives on.
But here’s the thing, when we look at health in this concept we are eliminating the narrow mindset that health is just about what we eat and how much we exercise. However, this is far from the truth. What we know is that health is about how you live your life.
Sure, nutrition and exercise are a part of that but so are your relationships, your finances, your work and home environment, your extra-circular activities, mindset and even your spiritual self.
It makes health less about beating your body into submission and starts to show you how to respect your body and love on your body, because at the end of the day you’ll never achieve lasting health until you start loving and respecting the vessel that will create it.
