Women are nurturers by nature. As a result, our wellness often falls to the wayside because we’re too busy taking care of our families. However, as women, it’s imperative that we prioritize our health so that we’re better caretakers and have more to give. One of the ways women can begin to prioritize their health is to start taking a daily multivitamin. Today, I’m going to explain why it’s so important for women to take a daily multivitamin, plus show you a few ways to easily incorporate it into your diet.
According to a recent survey conducted by MegaFood®, 70 percent of Americans take a multivitamin every day. If you’re new to supplementation, a multivitamin is a great one to start with because it helps cover the nutrition gaps you may have in your diet. It’s nearly impossible to eat all of the nutrients you may need in a day, and a high-quality multivitamin can help fill in the cracks.
What Is a Multivitamin?
A multivitamin is a supplement that contains many different vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals that are commonly found in multivitamins include but are not limited to:
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin K
- Potassium
- Iodine
- Selenium
- Vitamin B
- Zinc
- Beta-carotene
- Vitamin A
Generally, multivitamins are in pill or tablet form but you can also purchase them as powders or even gummies. They are also typically formulated for different genders and ages.
5 Reasons Why Women Should Take a Multivitamin
- Beat stress* – Most women experience some form of stress in their lives and when unaddressed, it can begin to eat up the nutrients in your body. Not to mention, when you’re stressed you typically have a tendency to either miss meals or eat unhealthy foods, leaving nutritional gaps in your diet.
- Support your menstrual cycle* – There are four phases in one hormonal cycle and each phase requires certain vitamins and minerals to keep it running smoothly. Most multivitamins include zinc and B vitamins, both of which can help ease premenstrual symptoms.
- Keep you active* – Regular exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, but it also increases your body’s need for additional vitamins and minerals. Offset this by taking a good quality multivitamin.
- Keep your mind sharp* – Healthy brain function and mental processing involve a smorgasbord of nutrients including folic acid, B vitamins and minerals like iron and zinc. Topping your diet with a multivitamin ensures your brain is functioning optimally.
- Give you energy* – Fatigue is one of the top complaints of most women, even those who are getting plenty of sleep. Taking a multivitamin can help support healthy energy production.
How to Pick a Multivitamin
Now that you know you need one, how do you choose one? Of course, not all supplements are created equal. The most important thing is to understand where the nutrients in the product are sourced. Just like with food, supplements can be tainted throughout the production process. That’s why I like to stick to high-quality brands that are transparent and use third-party testing in the form of certification to further validate the trusted ingredients they use and the product effectiveness. If you’re on the search for supplements, I would recommend MegaFood.
MegaFood is taking the concept of “keeping it real” to the next level by building trust with the consumer {us} with their 24/7 live facility cams. They also work with a network of farmers to obtain the whole foods they use in their high-quality supplements.

And get this, MegaFood is the first supplement brand to have its entire line of vitamins and supplements certified Glyphosate Residue Free by The Detox Project {amazing!} and they recently became certified B Corp, which means they are committed to higher standards of transparency and accountability in their products as well as being a force for social good in the community.
