Hormones, they feel heavy {and I don’t mean that literally}. It seems like every woman everywhere is struggling with hormonal control but what is the answer? Today we dive into the most commonly asked questions. Your hormone fix is here.
Hormones are a sensitive subject for many people. They seem overwhelming and annoying. Trust me, I get it. I’ve had my own share of hormonal struggles that I’ve work hard to overcome in the past.
Through that, I realized the hormone help I needed wasn’t as far off as I thought.
Today on the podcast, I interview Dr. Anna Cabeca. Dr. Anna is a triple-board certified OBGYN who has worked with thousands of women one-on-one to help them understand and improve their health and manage their hormones.
On today’s show, I ask Dr. Anna about the hormone fix you’ve been looking for. She answers your most pressing health questions including:
- Why do I have hot flashing during menopause?
- I can’t seem to stop my body from packing on the pounds?
- My hair won’t stop falling out.
- I have no sex drive
And many more. It’s a show worth listening to that will answer the entire range of hormonal questions you may have.
stop villainizing hormones
I get it, it’s easy to pass the blame on our hormones. It does seem like the simple answer to our most pressing questions. But I’d argue, maybe it’s not your hormones that you have to worry about as much as what you’re doing to provide energy to your hormonal system.
As Dr. Anna said, “hormones are chemical energetic molecules.”
They are moving through the process of energy to transfer signals and interact with the cells to entice a function. Basically they are a communication network of the body that is working to pass instructions from the organ systems to the cells all throughout the body.
But that’s pretty common knowledge. What isn’t is the fact that hormones are energy molecules.
Energy being the same thing that determines how you feel, how fast you can run if at all and so much more.
Energy truly is the foundation of health.
Focus on energy NOT hormones
If energy is the foundation of health and the fountain of youth – it is also the very thing that is running these communication channels. Meaning if you don’t have enough energy – or you’ve spent more than you have – your hormones are not going to communicate as they should and thus why symptoms occur.
So then, what must happen if you provide the energy? Your body functions at it’s prime and flow happens. Energy allows the hormones to work given their energetic nature.
Change not because it’s good but because it’s energizing.
It may not seem different then what you already do but I assure you it changes everything. It takes away the fixation on what is good and bad and redirects it into what is energizing or depleting. Basically it takes away the legalities of health and flips that on it’s head to what true health is – that is you.
Understanding energy flow in the body is life-changing – with the key being do more of what fills you rather than what depletes you.
The cortisol – insulin – oxytocin reaction
Cortisol, insulin, and oxytocin are the master hormones in the body. Whichever happens to be present signals a cascade of supporting hormones. While all three are important – we must take note that prolonged levels of insulin and cortisol are damaging to the body.
Both induce a stress response which is the opposite of energizing.
The next time you’re in a stressful situation, take note of your energy levels while you’re there. You may have felt an initial burst of energy that comes with the adrenaline rush – but once that wears off {and it will} your energy will be tanked.
Take inventory of your life
The best way to start understanding where your energy levels fall is by taking inventory of your life. How do you feel? Are you exhausted, moody, and constantly hungry? My guess is you’re working from depletion.
What you want to feel is energy and that energy helps open up your body to receiving and letting go.
So take a look at your life – start writing down what you do in a day, what you eat and how you move and take note – are these things giving you energy or depleting it?
Keep a log and start to learn what zaps your energy – while you can handle it in the short-term, long-term it will have more consequences then it’s worth. When you learn to fill your body, you’ll see the hormone fix you’ve been looking for.
