Easter is going to a look a LOT different for so many of us. While there is a tendency to feel defeated and sad about what is missing, let us use this as an opportunity to celebrate even more.
I was listening to a sermon this week that gave me so much hope in this season of uncertainty {listen here}. Perhaps, this is one of the best Easter’s seasons as we experience a true Passover season and feel the depravity and need for a Savior even more.
While I wish we could be celebrating in as a unified church body, there may be no greater memories and intimacy than worshipping at home, most likely still in leggings while celebrating the One who OVERCAME all of this!
So while it may be different, let’s make it one to remember and worship Jesus, who is not concerned, confused, or overwhelmed by the situation but sits perfectly in control of all of it.
With that, I thought I would make my entire Friday-Five devoted to Easter!
Enjoy!
5 Healthy Easter Recipes {made in less than 30-minutes}
- Brunch is the theme, and alongside the ham, we always serve this egg bake.
- I’m making a side of this to go with it – doesn’t pesto scream spring?
- I HATE kale, but this is still my favorite salad ever! If you hate kale, I promise you’ll love this.
- Still my favorite healthy spiced carrot cake – we’re doing muffins instead of the layered look.
- Be careful on this one – it’s too good, and of course for the ‘kids’ {but we all know better}.
5 things under $20 I’m stuffing in Easter baskets
- So much cleaner than slime but with the same thrill – my kids love these.
- These are always practical and always needed before summer hits.
- Our theme, anything that will keep them busy – I think this will do.
- With all of the art classes, online my girls have been requesting this.
- I used to love pearler beads, but this modern version is SO MUCH BETTER!
5 packaged foods that make healthy eating easy
Not everything has to be homemade! These packaged foods save my healthy eating plan – saving time prepping and planning.
- Pre-Made Chopped Salad Mixes
- Rotisserie Chicken
- Simply Organic Pre-Made Sauces and Spices
- Alexia Brand Frozen Potatoes {fries, tater tots, etc}
- Good & Gather Frozen Fruit
5 healthy things I succeeded at this week
It’s easy to get lost in what should have been done, letting ‘negativity’ be our standard. But I want to encourage you as I’m encouraging myself to count the wins, no matter how great or small and no matter how many other ways you may have ‘messed’ up. What are your successes?
- I got 12,000 steps a day {it did take work, it didn’t just happen}
- Veggies were a part of every single breakfast this week
- I stopped eating when I was full – even if there was food still on my plate
- Snooze on my morning alarm was not my go-to – I woke up every day by 6:00 am
- I went to therapy, and I took action on what was said at therapy.
5 promises we can stand on
Death does NOT have power over those who believe.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” {John 3:36}
I do not have to fear.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. {1 John 4:18}
I do not have to worry.
“Cast all of your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.” {1 Peter 5:7}
One day all things will be made right.
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” {John 14:3}
God loves me, sees me, and knowns me.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” {John 3:!6}
All of these promises may seem hard to believe. The good news is the one who promised has proven Himself trustworthy. Every Easter, we are reminded that nothing is too big for God to handle, and nothing can keep Him from us.
The greatest promise of all:
Even though we should be eternally separated from God, Jesus came to Earth and gave His life up to bridge the gap between us and God. Jesus chose to reconcile all of us who believe and He was willing to face death and suffering to do so. This Easter, let’s celebrate like we have a God that refused to leave us on our own. He is a God of great promises, a God who is faithful.
