Today we overcome the common unspoken lie that there’s something inherently wrong with me. That I’ll never be healthy. This couldn’t be further from the truth and I share the actual definition of health to unfold your vicious cycle allowing you to step into true health.
I believe everyone wants to be healthy. In fact, I think it’s an innate desire in all of us. That underlying all of the things we strive to make us comfortable is our body working to keep us alive and preferably thriving.
While most of us would agree we want health, we don’t always believe it can happen as there seems to be an underlying belief that there’s something wrong with me. That I’ll never be healthy.
You work for it; you may even do everything right and yet nothing. Only more inflammation, more weight gain, more movement in the wrong direction – bringing you back to this lie that gets fed over and over again, I’ll never be healthy.
But today is the day we put that lie to rest, and I fill you with hope. That no matter where you find yourself, health is always a possibility. It’s always an option, and today I break down how.
You’ll learn what this means to your body to creating a new vision of health. Most importantly, how to let go of what weighs you down. It’s honest, vulnerable, and most likely not what you expect – tune in here to listen!
the story we tell ourselves
There’s this unfortunate process that has happened in the health space. It’s a story that enforces this underlying belief that we have a problem that needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, it’s not just that we have a problem, but it often gets spun until we believe that we are the problem.
Symptoms flash like a neon sign reminding us that there is something wrong. The scale doesn’t just show a number, but it seems to spill words of shame that flood our minds.
And we get so wrapped up in our symptoms, in our problems that we start believing we are the problem.
Unfortunately, when this happens, we start to box ourselves up in protection and close down in fear that our vision for what could be, morphs into the problem that we are. We miss the source of healing because we’re too consumed in the symptoms.
Leaving you stuck in the middle of the pain without any hope for healing. It is the vicious cycle of health. Looking, trying, and hoping for something better but so closed off that a simple solution actually exists that you stay on the same vicious cycle that keeps you here.
But today, I declare this doesn’t have to be the end. There is a better way, and that way is to come back to a place of balance.
how to achieve balance
You might be scoffing because balance isn’t the most romanticized word in the English language. But it is a powerful one. It’s one that all of life seems to thrive around. The concept of maintaining a middle ground, homeostasis, you could say.
It’s the place where you don’t have to deal with the consequences of overeating, eating too little, not working out enough, overspending, or working in any of the extremes.
It’s where health becomes a part of who you are, not something you have to fixate on. A place where you eat just enough, you eat the right foods, and you move based on what your body needs.
I know it sounds too good to be true, but that’s what happens when we’re living in the hopeless cycle. We’ve someone found ourselves so broken we believe the only way must be the exhaustive, all-in, extreme solution. That becomes our only hope – the one inflicting all sorts of pain.
But the truth is, this couldn’t be further from the truth, in all areas of life. It’s not about the extremes, but it’s about coming home to who you are.
This is health.
Let me explain.
health like a pendulum
Take, for instance, a pendulum.
The definition of a pendulum via Websters Dictionary:
A weight hung from a fixed point so that it can swing freely backward and forward, especially a rod with a weight at the end that regulates the mechanism of a clock.Used to refer to the tendency of a situation to oscillate between one extreme and another.’
A pendulum is what health looks like for us. We see our problem, and we believe the only solution to that problem is to work towards an extreme. So we diet, we count calories, we give up entire food groups, we go keto, we starve ourselves, we overexercise, we put all of our energy and time into something we believe will be the answer.
no one can survive here
But no one can survive the extremes.
The problem when you exert energy into moving your life to one extreme, it can’t sustain that forever. From science, we know that if you pull a pendulum thirty degrees to the right, it will swing back until it’s thirty degrees to the left. And all the laws are the same – both inner and outer laws.
The same principles drive everything in this world.
If you pull the pendulum to one diet extreme, it will always go to the opposite extreme. That is the nature of a pendulum.
But if you stop pulling the pendulum or exerting so much force into moving the pendulum to one extreme, then the pendulum slowly comes back to the center. It comes back into balance, and it’s here in the middle that no movement or force is required. It just is, right here at the moment, not encountering any resistance or using any energy. It just is.
balance is abundant energy
That is the place we want to get with our health. The place where you no longer have to input energy to achieve the desired response. It just is second nature, a part of who you are.
A place where you eat to nourish, you move because it makes you feel good, and you sleep to stay healthy — a place where health no longer sucks your life or your time. And, more importantly, a place where you now have abundant energy.
Think with me for a moment, how much energy is your ‘healthy’ living plan taking out of you? And what would happen if you stopped putting so much effort into living at the extreme and instead allowed yourself to use that energy for a great purpose?
Perhaps, you’ve missed the simple solution because you’re too fixated on your symptoms to see that the source is right in front of you.
That it’s one shift away and back to the center where you no longer have to expend massive amounts of energy to seek health, health comes with abundant energy to follow.
That is balance – the middle ground.
And that is where abundant joy and happiness are – when you no longer have to live strapped to your health but free of it and open to living your purpose.
getting back to balance?
On the podcast, we break down how you can get back into balance and how you can come back to health. It’s not what you expect because it’s not found in the extreme diet changes, but through confidence and love for yourself. It’s in releasing what is holding you back and boxing you up, and it’s in trusting your body enough to believe that it wants to be healthy more than you give it credit.
Mostly it’s understanding that you have a purpose here that is far greater than the energy you exhaust living for health.
Health is a tool designed to help us live our purpose.
It’s not the end all be all, and it’s not worth wrecking your life over.
Health is the whole of who you are, and you have to open up yourself to start seeing you again. From this place to re-write the vision for your life. Who knows what you’ll find when you stop fixating on the symptoms, and you open up to the source.
it’s more than our body
More than anything, we must remember that our body is a by-product of our mind and soul. Real transformation happens through our relationship with Jesus. It is only through Him that we can step into abundant life, endless joy, and a never-ending purpose.
The health of our soul matters more than anything, and we can’t neglect this.
Start putting your focus and fixating your time here – doing the work to heal your soul, which changes your mind and ultimately becomes expressed through your physical body.
