health success
Health success is publicized as counting calories, macros or just moving more. But don’t we all know by now it’s so much more than that. It’s more than just overriding our body to achieve what we want. It’s more than just fitting into skinny jeans for the sake of being on trend.
Health is a combination of our mind, body, and soul. No one thing is more important to the next but the inter-dimensionality of all three working together for nourishment. That’s what we want.
A life of health that you enjoy, that you can sustain, that is you. So how do we get here? Here are three big points from the podcast that are a great starting place.
1. create a lifestyle rehabilitation statement
Adam is famous for his lifestyle rehabilitation statements – and I instantly fell in love. On the show, you’ll learn how Adam lost over 100 pounds through simple steps that created a significant impact. One was this simple idea of writing down a lifestyle rehabilitation statement.
“By switching from just negative thinking to openly reminding myself about all of the positive things that I wanted to accomplish, that changed everything for me. It allowed me to just own my life and create the life that I wanted.” – Adam Schaeuble
It’s a statement that opens you up to positive things you want to accomplish. So what would you write on a card? Start by thinking about some of these questions:
- What do you want your health to look like in 5 years?
- Are there things are you doing now that doesn’t align with that goal?
- What could you add to your life to hit that goal?
Write down a statement that sums up your most desired health goals and read it over and over: every morning and every night.
Now, to clarify – I’m not one to believe that just because you write it down automatically means it’s going to happen. But what I do think is that our minds are moldable – yes even at 80 years old. Our thoughts are a result of our actions. If we can change our thinking – morph it into a vision of what we want then I believe we can change our actions.
But we have to have a vision and once you do write it down and start repeating it to yourself.
2. know your triggers
The reason the wheel fell off the wagon in all of our lives is the same thing – life happens. There was some trigger that makes you feel guilty, failure or exhaustion which left room for you to quit.
Of course in the case of health – some things people are doing are so impractical that you’ll always end up quitting. But when it comes to lasting change, a genuine desire to live healthy, the only thing holding us back are triggers.
Hurdles, roadblocks, whatever you want to call them – the stumbling blocks you tend to encounter that throw you off and make you run back to your old lifestyle. As the saying goes, “old habits die hard,” and that they do.
But one great way to overcome this is to pinpoint your trigger and catch them before they catch you. Take a few moments to think about things that throw you off your groove? What environments cause you the most stress? What triggers you to want to eat or veg out emotionally?
Create a list of all the potential triggers and create a plan to overcome them.
I’ve created a free download to help identify your triggers. Make sure you download that free handout and start overcoming any and all roadblocks that lie ahead! Get that download by clicking below.
3. use momentum
On the podcast, Adam used the analogy of dominos. Did you know one domino can knock over another one twice its size? Fascinating right? But it’s exactly how our momentum can work.
If we work to achieve one small change, that can knock over another larger one, and the pattern continues. I think too often we get so focused on the big massive life-change that we forget the small everyday choices are the force creating lasting change.
It’s the power of momentum.
So try picking just two tiny – seemingly insignificant things even and get good at them. Make them your focus and invest your energy there and watch as those two things turn into five big things and the pattern continues.
Pick two things that you’ll do every day and stick to it.
get better results
All three of those tips will help you see better results – it’s a guarantee. Remember, your body wants to be healthy maybe even more than you do. Instead of focusing so much energy into what you think you should do for your body – invest the energy in creating an environment for your body to thrive.
