How to achieve lasting health
I’ve been pondering lately, of course while sipping this golden milk chai latte, why 97% of all diets fail.
Working in the diet industry (I prefer to say health industry) its astronomical that number of people who desire a change and seek it out, yet few who actually succeed long term.
After much thought and reflection in my own life {I’m really becoming a self-awareness junkie} I’m learning we are a group of people who are really good at segmenting our own life.
For instance, there are a lot of people who are really good at dieting, following rules, being restrictive and discipline, yet at the same time they are really bad at living life. On the other hand, there are people who are really good at work and personal life yet seek health.
It’s pretty rare when you see the meshing of life of health and all of the other pillars that form the wheel of health into one.
So what do you say we start something? Start a new movement that combines health, work, family, social, spiritual and all of the other pillars of health into one. One continuous weave that just works.
Maybe it is messy.
Maybe it is chaotic at times.
Maybe it is painful.
Maybe it is broken.
But what if the only way to get abundance is through brokenness. Through messy, chaotic, painful times?
End the quick fix
I get it thought. The easy button that blares pick me is pretty enticing. From the diet that promises to help you shed 30 pounds in 30 days. The food, alcohol or other ‘drugs’ we use to take away the loneliness. They’re tempting but in a little self-reflection we know the quick fix doesn’t ever work.
Instead we have to rip the band-aid off, expose the wound, feel the pain, be open to growing and feel the stretch.
It’s not a quick diet plan or all or nothing approach. It’s small simple changes in your everyday to keep you moving along the journey.
Don’t be scared of the wound, the brokenness and the mess. For when brokenness happens, emotions are created and through emotions come beliefs and in time action.
To start the process
Besides self-awareness, reflection, and journaling, a simple approach is just to begin slowly and surly incorporating more and more health to your everyday life. Simple, realistic and attainable health that you enjoy.
To start the process I welcome you to the golden milk chai latte.
The warm, creamy delicious flavor of traditional chai {Because I’m slightly obsessed and my husband has challenged me to give up Starbucks. Can you tell we’re tightening the budget?} with the big health bang of turmeric and ginger.
Turmeric’s Power
Sometimes its the little things that have the greatest power, like turmeric. The golden powder or orange-colored root that is packed with essential compounds to help your health. In fact, of the 5,500 published studies on turmeric, they believe there are few other natural compounds more astoundingly powerful than turmeric.
Since practically all chronic disease and even daily aches and pains have some root in inflammation, turmeric is touted to be a miracle-working to reduce inflammation.
In fact, check out some of these facts:
- Turmeric is proven to relieve osteoarthritic pain even better than ibuprofen…100% naturally and without side effects.
- One of its main compounds is curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful insulin sensitizer and blood sugar stabilizer. It is even being eyed as a potential alternative for drugs that treat type-2 diabetes.
- Ar-tumerone, a compound in turmeric, increases your brain’s ability to grow new neurons.
The list could go on-and-on but the reality is, turmeric is one of those things that could help a lot of things and is so simple and easy. Not to mention it is huge in fat burning. {Ahem, just saying}
golden milk chai latte
Golden milk is an ancient medicinal remedy used to help fight inflammation and other disease. While the spotlight of golden milk is that rich yellow turmeric, it is now known that raw turmeric in itself is not greatly absorbed by the body.
Yet, one compound that increases absorption is pepper, either black or cayenne and combine that with hot water and a bit of fat and you have a more available turmeric that your body can obtain and use.
Hence where the delicious golden milk chai latte came from. The hint of pepper from the chai blend + the golden milk turmeric + the creamy fat of cashew milk and you have yourself one deliciously comforting morning beverage.
It’s too good not to try, both for the health benefit and the delicious comfort it provides.
This is the brand of turmeric that is my go-to. I always keep it on stock
this is true health
This is how you achieve true health or at least stay on the journey. Through realistic and attainable, wholesome substitutions like this. It’s quick, healthy and delicious. Not to mention you can make it in advance and store the turmeric concentrate in your refrigerator to serve with steamed nut milk on a cold morning.
It’s not all or none chances, it’s not an overnight sensation, it’s not a list of rules, it’s not starving your body or beating it into submission. It’s simple, realistic changes that you incorporate into your life.
Because we’re putting an end to segmenting life into separate boxes. Instead we’re going to weave it all together, to create self-awareness and an emotion that will create action. Even through the broken mess it may be. You’re not alone.
So may we toast over a steaming mug of delicious golden milk.
Let’s begin talking about the golden milk color….
