This podcast tells you the epiphany I had in how I got my health back and the one thing you need to know to heal your body.
I have yet to write the nitty-gritty of losing my health and fighting to get it back. Actually it’s been less of a fight and more of a learning process. The short story is I was doing everything right, eating well, exercising and living the traditional busy life of hustle. Not to mention raising three little girls all under the age of six.
I was doing it, chasing the shiny objects all while forgetting the essentials of life. My philosophy revolved around giving, going, doing and becoming. I was trying desperately to be everything for everyone.
Unfortunately this all came crashing down and quickly. Just after the first of the year in 2016 I found myself in multiple doctors offices, medical tests, blood work and ultimately begging for someone to help get my health back. Fortunately I found a practitioner who helped change not only my health but my overall beliefs about health.
It was here, through daily {yes daily} appointments I had for a few weeks that I had an epiphany. Not just one but many along with many wake-up calls and many decisions I had to make about my lifestyle. This “healthy” life I thought I was living was actually making me sick and I believe it could be making you as well.
the healing pathway podcast
Today on the podcast I am happy to have the very doctor who helped get my body back to functioning, and not just functioning but thriving. On the show we’re breaking down the true healing pathway and how you can get out of the plateau, overcome your health hurdle and finally start to live in health again.
She will blow your mind, I promise.

when nothing is working
I hear it all of the time, in fact I lived it. I’ve been doing everything right and yet I’m still stuck, I’m still sick, I can’t get my weight to budge and I’m frustrated. Unfortunately this is all too common. With the majority of the population suffering from something they wish they could heal or weight they wish they could lose.
We’ve been led to believe that it’s just a matter of diet and exercise, but I’m here to tell you it is so much more. In fact neither of these matter and in some cases make it worse if we don’t have the basic understanding as to why our body gains weight and gets sick.
There are two things you need to know:
- Your body wants to be overweight anytime that it decides being overweight is the best way to keep you safe.
- The energy that’s inside of you is the energy that heals you.
why you can’t lose weight
We’re not going to touch on this much here, but you can read this article to understand more about the weight loss cycle. For now we’re just going to take a deep dive into energy, because when you understand energy you can understand how to experience lasting weight loss.
Not woo-woo energy but the energy that makes the body run, that heals the body and provides for the body. It’s a measuring system creating the equation of lasting health. The piece of the puzzle that pulls it all together creating the connection from what we eat {food energy} to how we exercise, our emotions and how we fuel ourselves back up.
The healing process, the weight loss process, the health and healing connection all has to do with energy.
the measuring system
Energy is a broad topic of the body, it is also something that isn’t often talked about in the world of healing. Of course we all hear about energy levels, or lacking energy levels as you pound another cup of coffee in the afternoon because you are running out of steam.
We know, we can feel and we can tell that energy plays a vital role in our health. With the majority of adults living in a lacking state.
In the podcast Dr. Cooper talks about energy like money in the bank. Interesting how most of us are running into energy debt every single day leading to the annoying consequences and more severe penalties. Where those living in true health have a savings account, they bank energy to use when needed.
Lasting health comes from understanding the vital process of giving and filling back up. Which is where we need to be and what we need to understand for lasting health.
I’m going to provide just one more analogy to drive home the importance of energy in the body through a bucket system.
banking energy
Like I mentioned early, energy is the currency in which your body works, heals and regroups. It is the fullness of life, the very source of living that determines how well our body functions. Think of the energy of your body as a bucket of water. To run at its prime the bucket needs to be full, always.
You can then start ranking how you feel based off of how much water {energy} you have in your bucket. If it runs out, well, you can know what that means, disease if not death.
Given our body is the bucket of water, that being our body and the energy it needs to thrive, then everything we do, eat, and think is either adding water or taking water away. In the case of kids we can see that often their buckets are overflowing with energy. Hence why they can never sit still, are constantly on the move and generally feel good.
energy expenditure
Let’s break down some examples of daily activities:
- energy for a 45 minute run = equivalent to negative 3 cups of water
- mindset change from running = positive one cup of water
- healthy breakfast = positive 2 cups of water
- traffic jam on the way to work = negative cup of water
- munching on your kids candy = negative cup of water
- skipping lunch for a work meeting = negative cup of water
- taking a quick walk break at lunch = positive cup of water
You can get the idea of where I am going with this. Everything we do, every thought we have, every ounce of food we eat and drink is either having a positive or negative effect on our body. It’s either filling our energy tank or taking it away.
In healthy cases people fill themselves back up just as much as they give out. It’s balance, it’s desire and mostly it comes from awareness.
The problem comes when we get stuck giving, giving, giving without filling ourselves back up. In many cases this is the exact reason you may be stuck, hit a plateau and lack energy all day long. You give more than you take. Not just take in a selfish way but a way that you have more to give.
the healing pathway
The only way to heal our body to have more to give is when we stop and recognize that we have to develop practices that fill us up. That provide not just energy to live but to heal and to thrive. It’s changing the thought from self-care being selfish to self-care being essential. In this you can actually do more and be more to others.
If we just try to be everything to everyone without recognizing our own need for rejuvenation we crash and burn. We try to fight it with exercise and food alone but forget that pushing our body, trying to beat it into submission is only taking more energy from our already lacking body.
This is why the stress component to the health equation is critical, because the constant bombarding of stress takes more than we have to give and can wipe you clean. Think for instance how much we exhaust ourselves trying to get well and stay well. We expend so much energy; looking after family and friends, waking up in the wee hours of the night with crying babies, earning enough money to pay the bills, keep track of schedules, keeping up with house work, not to mention the countless other obligations.
You can see the endless responsibilities we have can pull away all of the energy we have. Our bodies become sick and tired, our hearts grow weary and frustrated and we lose hope. Unfortunately this way of life has become normalized. For most you’ve lost touch with what a vibrant healthy life even feels like and believe you may never get there. If only you could just feel a little bit better.
the way out
Learning to bank energy, to practice self-care and know that filling yourself back up is not selfish but vital. This means we have to put more focus into healing, energy producing foods rather than just looking at calories. We have to be more aware of what exercise provides energy rather than steals energy, even if that means you cut back on your high intensity workouts.
You have to start practicing ways to diminish stress. Some ideas could be:
- Establishing a morning routine
- Prayer, meditation, spirituality
- Positive relationships
- Under-scheduling your life
- Hot baths at the end of the day
- Reading more books
- Living with less so you can live with more
slow down to find success
For me this was fighting the lie that busyness was the only way to experience success and step into the truth that slowing down, living with less, prioritizing, creating values and space was actually where true success was found.
You can’t be everything to everyone.
In fact this very mentality can steal your health and one of the most vital things you can do is actually a lifestyle detox. To being sorting through the things that fill your day, your time, your thoughts and get rid of the bad and fill it with good.
Or even if you can’t get rid of to start filling your day with more of those things that fill you up. In time you will notice that these small changes alone provide more energy than you can imagine giving you the space to get more done in less time, live with more purpose and experience more joy.
Not to mention live in lasting health.
commit to a lifestyle detox
The most healing thing I did was to surround myself with energy providing life sources. In treatment with Dr. Cooper this meant chiropractic adjustments, emotional work, acupuncture, supplements and ion cleanse. In my everyday life this meant run/walking instead of high intensity workouts. It meant creating boundaries for work and play. Reading at night instead of scrolling through social media. It meant quitting snacking and eating more life giving foods. Providing energy mean focus on healing relationships and getting rid of toxic relationships. Which in the end meant fully living.
Of course all of this is a process that takes time, awareness and desire. But I can promise if you do this, sort through life, undergo a lifestyle detox it will change your health in more ways than you can count.
Through this process I created The Simple Cleanse, a course, a program that change my health for good. The Simple Cleanse helps provide the awareness you need to change your health and gives you the tools to show you how to provide life-giving, energy-providing choices in your everyday.
It breaks down the food we eat, exercise, our environment, emotions, relationships and lifestyle decisions in a simple and realistic system. It provides true healing from the inside out as it focuses on the only thing that heals your body and that is the energy of the body. It’s not a band-aide approach like the liquid detox diets or those loaded with tons of supplements and tinctures.
This is the real foods, realistic lifestyle, change that creates trust allowing healing and change for months and months to come. I’ve created a free detox guide for you to learn more but I can’t recommend the course enough if you are suffering from low energy levels, feel stuck or have annoying symptoms. Or if you just want to maintain and restore healthy energy levels, this is the program for you. It’s inexpensive and I guarantee it will work. Learn more here.
the simple way
Healing doesn’t have to be complex or overwhelming. In fact it is more simple than we can imagine. Often times it just means filling yourself back up, living a life of adventure and excitement and becoming more self aware. It may not be fast or the overnight fix but those will never last.
Lasting health comes from providing energy, focusing on self care and living with intention. One day, one choice, one moment at a time. Create the trust and experience the difference. So you can get healthy, live happy and find joy.
